Grooveland Music, the first house music label in Brazil, is proud to present its seventh release, courtesy of newcomer Tarek.
Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, the producer/musician/composer Tarek like to create a unique musical experience, which he achieves by blending in his productions influences from musical genres like Bossa Nova, Jazz, Funk and Broken beats. As a DJ, Tarek as shared his musical vision across the globe, performing at key cities like Beirut, Istanbul, Amsterdam, New York, Dallas, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, San Diego, Lisbon, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, and, of course, his home-town Rio de Janeiro, where he hosts the monthly party “Ritual”.
With Desabafo, Tarek showcases all his talent as a musician. Every instrument – apart from the acoustic guitar - were played by the man himself. The result is a groovy latin-house tune full of brazilian influences.
On the remix job, Grooveland Music presents newcomer Henrique Fishi, also hailing from Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. Keeping the original bassline intact, Fishi added hiw own beats and fx’s, and dropped the guitar solo in favor of funky guitar licks, creating an irresistible vibe.
Second, Vancouver’s most famous DJ and producer Shawn Ward, whose work was released by important labels like Polyphonics, Tweekin, Blockhead, Sensei, Mettle Music, Flat & Round and Elevation, turns the music into a late-night deep-house affair, featuring smooth beats, an electroish bassline, lovely keys, some sexy vocals and spacey fx’s thrown here and there.
Rounding the package, John Kumahara (from Iwanai Music/CA), who previously remixed Grooveland’s debut release (Afrika, by eDeep), reworks the tune to the deep/tech headz, by using a minimal bassline and some wicked and spacey keys, blending them perfectly with the original elements.
The second of three EPs from OVEOUS features a guest spot from Seven Davis Jr. and uses club music to explore identity. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 8, 2020
